India’s guest today is Travis Brown, creator of Poddecks, “unique podcast interview questions in the palm of your hand.” Travis calls Poddecks an “accidental business” because initially the interview questions were a bonus Travis threw in with the purchase of a podcasting course he had created. But then he learned that people wanted the Poddecks questions more than they wanted the course!

In today’s episode, India and Travis discuss podcasts and why now, during the coronavirus epidemic, is a great time to start a podcast or seek to be a guest on someone else’s podcast. You’ll learn how to be an inviting host and an engaged interviewee. Sprinkled throughout the episode, Travis shares what he has learned from his quest to interview 1000 people in 2020. Whew!

Now is a great time to start a podcast or to be a guest on someone else’s podcast.

Consider

[0:08:13] The number one way to grow your podcast is to go on other people’s podcasts.

[0:12:43] If you are a podcast host, you have to learn how to stop talking and learn to showcase your guests.

[0:13:51] If you’re interviewing for a specific purpose, be prepared. Investigate your guests so you’ll have intelligent questions to ask.

[0:15:38] Are Poddecks for you?

[0:21:18] Set expectations with your guests.

[0:24:07] How to be a great interviewee — show the interviewer how you can help their audience and be an asset to their community.

[0:26:45] Don’t be afraid to turn the tables. Ask the host a question.

[0:38:10] Consider starting a podcast now. The pool of listeners is huge;, listeners can listen while being active; it’s easier for your audience to connect with you because they get to hear your voice, yet podcasting is much easier to execute than doing video.

[0:42:51] Repurpose content from your podcast material for blog posts and social media
